YOUR YOGA INSTRUCTOR

Yoga isn't just what I do. It is who I am.

I began practicing Yoga in April of 2001, two days after the birth of my son.  His birth came after a trying time; my wife experienced an extremely rough pregnancy that left her life and the life of our un-born son perpetually in danger. I was working two jobs and trying to care for her and our two-year-old daughter.

Good fortune would be had, and in the end, things turned out OK, but the stress overload was so great that I couldn't calm down after the trying times ended. I wasn't sure what to do. The old methods of "suck it up and be a man" and "push myself harder" just weren't providing a solution.

Then Time Magazine showed up as it always did each week. The latest cover story was about Yoga, and had supermodel Christy Turlington in Kukutsana (Rooster) Pose. The cover story article included instructions on basic Yoga poses (asana) and sequences (vinyasas). It tried them.

I never felt so good in my life. I began to view the world in a manner more positive than ever before. I felt great about myself, and developed a positive, caring view toward other people that I hadn't been able to do before.

I said to myself: "I'm going to practice Yoga every day for the rest of my life."

I have never missed a day of practice since then. A couple of years into my practice, I said that I had to become a Yoga teacher. I had to give to the world what Yoga gave to me.

In 2006, I joined YogaFit and became a certified Yoga instructor and I continue my studies and continue to attend more training. I've since completed YogaFit Level Five and look forward to more training.

A true teacher never stops being a student!

I am very grateful to Beth Shaw and to YogaFit for making my Yoga teacher training possible.
